About CELEBRATE SOUND

CELEBRATE SOUND Don’t Walk in Silence®is a national fund and awareness-raising event created to help promote hearing health in our communities. We are often asked “Why hearing health?” The answer is simple, today over 50 million people in the United States alone suffer from some kind of hearing loss. With our technological life style, that number continues to grow. Our passion is to create a world where everyone who chooses to, can hear us. And our passion will compel us to raise awareness of our cause, educate those willing to understand, and support those who need our support.

WHAT DOES CELEBRATE SOUND SUPPORT?

With CELEBRATE SOUND Don’t Walk in Silence, we want to raise public awareness of hearing health issues.  The number of people affected, the age ranges affected and the health implications are much broader than the general public might suspect.” Said Georgetown Sertoma Club, Speech & Hearing Director Jim Wilson. But there are things that can be done.  For instance, just through better education we can help prevent noise-inducted hearing loss, erase public stigma about hearing loss, and make public spaces more accessible to those who use assistive devices.

Money raised by the Georgetown Sertoma Club at this event will be used to fund both local and national hearing health projects.  These include provide hearing aids for economically disadvantage individuals from local hearing health providers, college scholarships for hard of hearing and deaf students, scholarships for those pursuing graduate studies in speech-language pathology or audiology

Headquartered and founded in Kansas City, Mo. In 1912, Sertoma is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit national civic organization with community-minded members in our service clubs across North America. Sertoma’s national focus is assisting the more than 50 million people with hearing health issues and educating the public on the issues surrounding hearing health
